BRDM-3s

Hey Everyone

Hope you all had a good week as we look into beginning yet another one. This time, we're featuring a few shots of the Soviet Anti-tank Armored Car: the BRDM-3 (officially, they are still known as BRDM-2, as the BRDM-3 is a different version that carries 4 ATGMs). If you think German names are long...Russian names are even longer. BRDM = Boyevaya Razvedyvatelnaya Dozornaya Mashina, or "Combat Recon/Patrol Vehicle". Official Russian Designation: 9P148.

Armed with 5 x AT5 Spandrel ATGMs, the 9P148 is able to carry about 20 ATGM which are guided using sights located in the front of the vehicle. Also, there's a hatch behind the launch tubes for the loader to load the missiles after the previous salvo has been used. Reload time for each launcher is estimated to be about 25 seconds.

If we thought that the launch tubes were just stuck up there (like I always did), think again...the 9P148 has the ability to bring up/down its launch tubes through an actuated system, which looks pretty cool to me. The launch tubes also track along with the sight in front...but do mind the excessive wind noise in the video.

Make Aim and Fire!

Here we have an Elf noble taking a shot at something in the distance. With the Swordmasters of Hoeth in the background, it looks like this Elf Noble must be of some great importance to have escorts that are Swordmasters.

AS we all know, Elves have always been well known to be adept and exceptionally skilled in Archery. In fact, their keen sense of the bow and arrow are far more superior than Robin Hood.

Which brings me to this.

Have you guys seen the Trailer of the New Robin Hood that is Russell Crowe.

It resembles Gladiator 2 more than Robin Hood. :S hmmm



I mean, its the same actor, same director. Who are we trying to kid?

Lego: Bourne Ultimatum Fight Scene

Hey Guys

Man, I love the Bourne series of movies...action packed with a great storyline, and would I compare it to James Bond? They're both about spies, but Bourne strikes me as a grittier and perhaps more realistic take on the dirty world of spies, as intrigue and betrayal often go hand-in-hand as governments seek to gain an upperhand through espionage. James Bond for me borders too much on the fantasy/glamorous side of things...the Daniel Craig ones do provide interesting viewing though.

If you have watched Ultimatum, remember that epic fight scene that ended in the toilet? Someone apparently used lego figures + stop motion animation to recreate the whole thing, and it's hilarious.



This guy's animation is really respectable, and I think he's made other videos too...and actually his remake of the Ninja Assassin trailer is more interesting than the actual one itself. It reminds me of those nerdy times in the past when I played with lego (and toys in general) and had to imagine the action in my head...heh. It's interesting to note that kids throughout history had different forms of play and toys...it makes me think: why do kids always want to have fun? Is fun a method of learning? (on the other side, it also makes me think of kids growing up in wars and difficult times, and didn't have the fortune to play much of their lives).

Good to be a kid, best to stay as one?

Its the High Elf Hero Again

Hi people, sorry for a slight delay.

Things have been really tied up for me and so I was pretty preoccupied.
Based on last polls, we have finally deduced that DC is a more dominant publisher than their Marvel counterparts in capturing their audiences.

As such, We shall be featuring some DC stuff for sure. (Batman figures, Josh? :p)

That aside, its back to Warhammer pics,
So for today we shall feature more on the High Elf Hero that our fellow friend, Wei Ting has put so much effort into making and other High Elf figures.


This is a picture focused on the Swordmaster of Hoeth that Wei Ting has painted. It is taken from the Lord of the Rings Collection to proxy as a High Elf Swordmaster. AS you can see from the background, his High elf Hero stands firm.

As said before, Wei Ting takes a real long time to paint, but while he is not a fanatic painter, he gets the job done nicely. The Elf Swordmaster looks like he means Business!


Here again, we have his elf hero. With a good balance of lighting and the background set pieces, I must say this picture makes him look prim and magnificent. But i guess it must also be the "Royalty" Colour theme that Wei Ting has used. So much for being an Arrow Merchant, or so he claims his High Elf army theme is.

Other than that, How many times do you see High Elf in touch with nature? I barely see any High Elves close to forest area in Warhammer magazines as compared to their Wood Elf cousins.
Perhaps We can deduce their High Elf brethren in modern day terms as cosmopolitan urban dwellers and Wood Elves as flower people from outside the city.

What do you see that differentiates All types of Elves from each other in the Warhammer world and how can you relate it to modern day context?

On a side note of painting , I am starting on the trebuchet and painting the figures first before i tackle the actual structure of the trebuchet.

The German Gepard

Back with more Modern Military.

Today, I introduce you to the modern day German Flak Cannon.
It is also known as the Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard.
And I must say, the first word to the vehicle is pretty funny and long.

But i guess it is not funny matter to have your jet plane ripped to shreds by this vehicle.

"It is based on the Leopard 1 tank hull with a large fully rotating turret carrying the armament—a pair of 35mm Oerlikon KDA auto-cannons and the two radar dishes—a general search radar at the rear of the turret and the tracking radar, and a laser rangefinder, at the front between the guns. Each gun has a firing rate of 550 rounds/min." -Wikipedia.

It is said though that Stinger teams like to attached themselves to a Gepard to used its extensive Radar capabilities to defend against aircraft.

However, it gets me wondering, are flak cannons and AA Guns still relevant in today's modern warfare against advance jets.

Onto Model Making, I am currently studying abroad, as such, I did not bring my Arleigh Burke Kit with me to construct. This due to not having enough space to store all my paints and my model kit too. However, I have started constructing and doing a fast paint job on the JMSDF Oyashio Class Submarine. This will be followed up with painting and fixing some GHQ Modern Naval Ships that I brought along.

So time will not go to waste. :)

HAHA no offense to any Germans, Europeans or Dutch people here but this Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer word reminded me of the Eurotrip movie and the "Vandersex" Funny scene in which the guy had to say the SAFE WORD to stop the "Vandersex".

Medal of Honor: Q3 2010

Hey Guys

I guess most of you must have heard about a new Medal of Honor installment that's ready to pop out real soon...and so far, it looks really really promising to me, I am kinda looking forward to it. It's about time CoD gets some competition, as it will give us gaming and modern military fans more to savor on :)

Supposedly, MoH aims to balance realism and playability, and they seem to work pretty hard on the realism part...such as having character models hold their guns that matches their unit (different branches hold guns differently), and having SEAL members talk about their missions for the game. We would play as a Tier 1 operative in Afghanistan, which would mean pretty awesome action to boot.

Gamespot recently did a "first impressions" on the game, and you can check it out here.

Also, Infinity Ward is going through a pretty rough patch now...the president/game director and CEO (Jason West and Vince Zampella respectively) of IW (who moved over from MoH to make CoD) got fired by Activision just before they were to receive their royalties from CoD:MW2, and now they are embroiled in a legal dispute with Activision. In general, this may spell bad news for fans expecting a great CoD:MW 3 sequel, since the 2 guys did setup the company and probably contributed quite a lot to the running of IW...IW would never be the same without them on board. More Iron Man

Hey Guys

In lieu of JQ's Iron Man post, I just ran into a nifty little expensive replica Arc Reactor being sold on thinkgeek.com right now...to prove that the man, Tony Stark, has a heart:

Man, it looks pretty awesome, and it comes at a pretty dear price too (150 USD). It would make a cool paperweight and maybe make myself feel like Tony Stark once in awhile :P

Personally, I love thinkgeek.com as they sell various 'geeky' merchandize such as 8-bit ties (that look like they came from super mario or something), lightsaber laser pointers, r/c mini cars, wi-fi detecting shirts...and even a tauntaun sleeping bag (bringing back memories from Empire Strikes Back). I find the prices pretty competitive and the 'geekpoints' system (a loyalty program) that gives pretty neat free gifts.

Man, it's good to be a geek, and hope Iron Man II lives up to the hype :)

IRON MAN

With the new Iron Man movie coming soon, How many of you guys are anticipating for it to be UBER awesome?


Its IRON MAN.. FREAKING IRON MAN BIATCH!

Here is the pic that was also in the cover of our blog. Mr. Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man. I used to be really into collecting Marvel Action figures. I was formerly a vivid Marvel fan. Having being inspired by Spiderman and Iron Man for their persona, I always took a liking for the big expanse of the action hero world that is Marvel.

However as Military Modelling and Warhammer took over and as my childhood years seem to fade away, bit by bit, my figures disappeared. Use to have an array of X-men, Spiderman, Iron Man, War Machine, Magneto and many more.

But somehow or another, as u grow up, ur childhood toys tend to either disappear or get destroyed by your own amusement. In my case, they seem to disappeared. Sold quite a few off in garage sells and others just simply got lost.

As a vivid collector of some stuff, you will always have to contend with the phrase: "You never really have enough space for everything." Unless you are one rich ass dude with a huge loft.

However, thanks to the inspiration and power of movies, they have rekindled my interest in them and I have acquired this Iron Man figure to remind me of the great days of the past.



The First Iron Man movie provided yet another awesome quench of thirst for one of my favourite Marvel Heroes.

And who better to play the role of Tony Stark than Robert Downey Jr. (Damn, I love the dude and his acting prowess)

While I must admit that Iron Man and Spiderman movies are not Oscar Winning Quality type of films, they are a big franchise from the giant that is Marvel.

Ever since the 80s onwards, Marvel has overshadowed the other giant of comic (DC Comic) and have continue to remain trendy and upbeat in associating with the youth generation and capturing our imaginations till now.

How many of you guys think that Iron Man 2 will be a hit?
How Many think that Marvel will remain dominant in the comic industry?

Let's Take Turns to Pose

After the vicious showdown between Bretonnians and High Elves (Wei Ting v Me), I figured that it would be good to clarify that both armies are more of friends than enemies.

So here you have two warriors from both sides taking turns posing for the camera.

Somehow or another, during this picture taking session, the lighting gave these figures some nice shadow and color balance. I like how they are shadows forming around the figures, giving them a more defined look.

So as this new week begins, school is starting for me. As such, my painting intensity might probably drop.

I tried to attempt painting in full force during the holidays but I never seem to get around it. Its probably due to my social life and also hanging out with friends playing Battlestar Galactica, etc etc.

So far though, i Have finished painting my Men-at-arms, Started on my Trebuchet and have finish highlighting and basing my Grail Knights. Long way more to go.. But oh well, that's what you get when you over buy to many new models and they end up getting unpainted for a long long time. I intend to change that. Havent acquired anything new from Games Workshop for a year or two. Aside from paints, I haven't gotten anything new and I intend to finish what I have left.

If not, send some to painting services of course.. :P hehe.
